Somila Cungwa, also known by his pen name
S.O-Squared; The Soul Hand, was born in a small village called Mntlabathi on the outskirts of Mdantsane
Township in the Eastern Cape. S.O-Squared started writing poetry at the age of 12. He is a musician, poet,
creative writer, guitarist, singer and entrepreneur doing a genre called RapSoul (Umngqungqo nokubonga); Afro
Soul, Afro Jazz, Funk, Xhosa Folk, Rap/Hip-Hop and Acoustic Soul.
S.O-Squared is also involved in the NGO, the Plant A Seed project, which grooms and nurtures children from
to allow them to write and recite poetry.
